I've got a lot of flies in my tunnel but I'm not sure they are causing problems. They seem to be normal house flies but they group near the roof of the tunnel. Anyone else find this to be the case? Is it maybe because I have a lot of compost in the soil? It's mostly shop bought compost.

I have the same problem think they are attracted to the heat that's built up inside as is my cat!

It's always the case. I think they fly in randomly, but then get confused and end up endlessly battering themselves off the film, just like they do against a window inside. Many of them fly out again when the sun starts to go down, but some just die - sad but true. This doesn't cause a problem provided you've done the pleating around the doorway so that the pockets are on the outside. If they're on the inside they fill up with condensation and dead insects, making a rather nasty looking soup.

Even this isn't a problem for the plants, but Mark has successfully 'bled' his pockets using an office hole punch - the slack poly isn't under strain so doesn't tear any further.
